Cathy Copeland and students discussed issues in her platform, including mental health awareness, immigration and education in Virginia. Cathy Copeland, a writing, rhetoric and technical communications adjunct professor at JMU, is currently campaigning to be the Democratic candidate for delegate of Virginia’s 26th district. On Thursday, she held a meet and greet in E-Hall as an opportunity to interact with students.
“I wanted to do it in E-Hall because I really wanted to get out onto campus,” Copeland said. “I believe that JMU students are incredibly politically engaged and I wanted to harness some of that energy and see what kind of questions people had.”
