New Democratic Candidate for Virginia House of Delegates District 94 - Zack Wittkamp - a look at some data

District 94 is being contested by new Democratic candidate Zack Wittkamp. Zack will compete for the seat held by David Yancey This seat was contested in the last cycle. Yancey won that election by 2,138 votes in 2015. Zack Whitcamp's run was announced yesterday, there is no web presence for his campaign as yet but here is a news story in the Daily Press noting his run:

  • Percent Registered = 58%
  • Total Vote in Last District 94 Race = 14,142
  • Participation Rate = 31%
  • Total Vote for Republican last Race = 8,140
  • Total Vote for Democrat last Race = 6,002
  • Localities = Newport News City

There are 23 precincts in Newport News City, While contested by a Democrat last cycle the Democrat only managed to win 7 precincts. The 58% of residents registered as active voters is a pretty low rate. Some voter registration drives might feature heavily in this district as a result.
